I was born back in '79 in the Orava region of northern Slovakia. It’s a place rich with cultural heritage, beautiful old buildings, and a tight-knit community vibe. Growing up there really opened my eyes to how history, traditions, and social values can shape everyday life. I went to a grammar school in Orava, where I found my passion for literature and languages, and started to see the world through different lenses. At the time, I didn’t fully grasp it, but those early experiences definitely laid the groundwork for my lasting fascination with culture and society.
After finishing school, I jumped into the workforce and picked up a variety of experiences along the way. My first job was in retail, which was quite an eye-opener. It taught me about customer interactions and the importance of clear communication—you quickly learn how to read people’s needs on the spot. Eventually, I moved into the wellness field, which helped me polish my people skills even more. It struck me how much our physical health ties into our emotional and social well-being. Through all these different jobs, I realized that every profession comes with its own cultural backdrop—each has its own set of norms and ways of connecting with others.
When I transitioned into marketing, it was like a light bulb went off. I started to really grasp how narratives are built and the impact cultural symbols, language, and shared experiences have on influencing people. Diving into marketing not only sharpened my analytical skills but also sparked my creativity. I found myself tuning into social trends and decoding what drives consumer behavior. But as time went on, I realized I craved work that had a clearer, more direct human purpose.
That’s what led me to social services, where I’ve spent the last few years working overseas. My job puts me face-to-face with clients whose life stories span all sorts of cultural, social, and historical backgrounds. It’s amazing how often our conversations touch on identity, heritage, and shifting social expectations—these are topics that really get me fired up. Through this experience, I've learned just how vital social support systems are and how deeply culture shapes the way we interpret our lives. These discussions have motivated me to dig deeper into society, tradition, and cultural evolution.
So, I decided to dive into ethnology. To me, it’s a chance to blend my hands-on experience with solid theoretical knowledge. I'm eager to explore cultural history, customs, traditions, and the factors that shape social structures. Ultimately, I want to use what I learn both in my professional life and personally—to foster a better understanding of the individuals and communities I engage with. Ethnology seems like a goldmine for insights that can help bridge gaps and encourage real communication.
Outside of work, I keep busy with a bunch of activities that help me stay grounded and inspired. Whether it’s swimming, cycling, hiking, writing, or vlogging—I love it all! I even make motivational videos that have racked up millions of views and reach over 15,000 followers now. These creative outlets let me spread some inspiration and promote resilience while connecting with folks from all walks of life. It all ties back to my commitment to understanding human stories more deeply.
